Spectacular Monthly Tree & Availability List - July 2011

Spectacular Monthly Tree
Although we have many tree species at our nursery that are looking spectacular at any given time, we feature just one tree in particular every month that we know will offer you the best value for money and that will add that special touch to your landscape project.
Podocarpus falcatus is the well known upright, tall growing, evergreen gymnosperm that becomes massive in our indigenous forests. The small narrow leaves are arranged spirally on the branches with a definite twist at the base. Fortunately this magnificent tree does not reach the same proportions as it does in the forest when it is planted in our urban areas, but should preferably be planted in medium to large gardens or in any area where the growth is not restricted. Plant this beautiful tree in a sunny spot in a large hole to which good compost or well rotted kraal manure have been added and water regularly in dry weather. These valuable trees tolerate frost and even do well near the coast when exposed to strong, salt laden winds.
